Coastal and countryside summer holidays hold such special memories – some people have seen boats in this piece, others cliffs and open skies and some have even been reminded of countryside walking and green fields. I think the little poem about climbing trees and living wilder so apt.
This piece forms part of a small abstract collage series inspired by coastal visits and the landscape surrounding my home studio here in the South West of England. I included gelli plate printed and painted chunks of collage papers made earlier in the year, here specifically leaf motifs on vintage poetry paper. I love building up layers and playing with the design – a process of addition and subtraction until a balanced composition is found.
The painting is signed on the back and the surface is protected with UV safe varnish.
