After many enquiries, I am delighted to be offering an exciting 3-day mixed-media coastal inspired workshop. I’ll guide participants through various freeing-up exercises and share my knowledge on creating expressive coastal-inspired pieces.
Part of the first day will be working outdoors overlooking the majestic Dorset coast gathering information to capture the atmosphere. Utilising various water-based materials including acrylic, ink, watercolour, pastels, charcoal and graphite, I’ll demonstrate various mark-making exercises for you to explore.
Plein air studies will be used to inform larger work back at the spacious Scout hut base. Found materials along the tide-line can be used as mark-making tools.
I’ll also share my knowledge and tips on creating more resolved work using the outdoor studies and will discuss composition, limited palette, layering techniques and tonal use.
As in all my workshops, the emphasis is process-led with a curious, playful approach regarding use of materials and tools. Suitable for all levels.
