I love the fact that people have seen so many different things in these paintings – cliffs, a river, flowers, fossilised rocks and dunes – part of the fun when each viewer projects their own imagination. An abstract ensemble inspired by countryside and coastal walks here in the South West of England. I enjoyed the process of adding and subtracting until a balanced composition was found. I utilised various methods of layering and piecing together fragments through mixed media and then scraping, sanding and peeling off – metaphorically delving deeper to discover hidden gems.
