I have always had a deep affinity with the natural world and draw inspiration from the textures, colour, patterns and atmosphere experienced. Exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby Jurassic coast, I collect interesting objects which I keep in my studio for inspiration and mark-making including fossils, dried seed-heads, pebbles, decaying flowers and leaf skeletons. This piece started off as a landscape but now all I can see are two figures having a ‘good old chin wag’. I like to rotate each painting as I work to help with composition and that’s when different imagery or memories pop out. This tranquil piece forms part of a small series and the abstract nature allows the viewer their own imagination and interpretation. What can you see?
The painting is signed on the front and the surface is protected with UV safe varnish.
